• Leverkusen opt to keep Germany winger after Chelsea talks
• Schürrle, 21, impressed against Greece at Euro 2012
Chelsea have had an offer in excess of £16m for the Germany winger Andre Schürrle rejected by Bayer Leverkusen, according to the German newspaper Express.
"We were presented with a very concrete offer from Chelsea for Andre of beyond the €20m mark. The sum was pushed back and forth between the two clubs. We ultimately chose Andre," the Leverkusen chief executive, Wolfgang Holzhauser, was quoted as saying by German news agency SID.
"Andre is very valuable for us. He has also made it clear he would like to stay with us."
The 21-year-old has established himself as one of Germany's most exciting young talents since joining Leverkusen from Mainz last year and won his 16th cap for Germany at Euro 2012, where he impressed in the quarter-final win over Greece. Read More
