• PSG manager reveals interest in Tottenham midfielder
• André Villas-Boas willing to let Modric leave for right price
The Paris St-Germain manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has praised Tottenham's Luka Modric but refused to confirm whether he will make a move for the Croatia playmaker.
Modric has long been linked with a move away from north London this summer after impressing both for Spurs and with his country at the European Championship, with Real Madrid thought to be leading the chase.
PSG are one of the few clubs in Europe with the means to compete with the Spanish champions, having launched a spending spree last season under their new Qatari owners which fell short of delivering the Ligue 1 title.
They are sure to be active once more this summer, with the French and Italian media captivated by a reported double swoop for Milan's Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva.
On the back of that speculation, Ancelotti has now declared his admiration for Modric, a player he knows well from his time in England with Chelsea.
"I did not need to see him at the Euros to know how much talent he has," said the Italian. "I knew his capabilities before. Now he has confirmed his high quality for those who did not know."
Pressed on the likelihood of a move for the 26-year-old, though, he told AS.com: "I know that is what matters most now, but I am sorry to disappoint you. I cannot speak publicly about the transfer market.
"You have to understand that it would be foolish of me to speak openly about our objectives and movements in relation to quality players."
André Villas-Boas has recently revealed that he would be willing to let Modric leave White Hart Lane, but only if the price is right. The Portuguese coach has targeted Porto's João Moutinho, should any deal for the Croatian go through
"He [Moutinho] was one of the most important players at Euro 2012, he had a fantastic tournament," Villas-Boas said. "It doesn't mean that he's the only target but if something happened, of course he's a player that we look on with some interest.
"With Luka, there is interest and the player raises interest. The interest that he is getting from a number of clubs is the same as he got last year. If the player's ambition is to move to another club, we can respect that decision but there are club interests that the chairman will defend and only when the right offer is met will there be more use."
