• Hodgson to become long-term replacement for Fabio Capello
• 64-year-old's first game to be in Norway on 26 May
The Football Association has called a press conference for 4pm on Tuesday afternoon where it will confirm the appointment of Roy Hodgson as England's new manager. Hodgson and his agent, Leon Angel, returned to Wembley on Tuesday morning to finalise terms and agree a two-year contract that will run to the end of the 2014 World Cup.
The 64-year-old had spent four hours at Wembley on Monday, in discussions with the four-man FA committee charged with finding a long-term replacement for Fabio Capello – the chairman, David Bernstein, the managing director, Adrian Bevington, the general secretary, Alex Horne, and Sir Trevor Brooking, director of technical development.
It is expected that Hodgson will remain at West Bromwich Albion while they play the final two games of the Premier League season, before turning his attention to England's preparations for Euro 2012. His first game in charge would be the friendly against Norway in Oslo on 26 May, with Belgium visiting Wembley seven days later.
This will be Hodgson's fourth attempt at international management, following a successful three-year spell with Switzerland in the early 1990s, a less impressive 16-match sojourn in the United Arab Emirates between 2002 and 2004, and 14 games with Finland ending in November 2007. Read More
