This is shaping up to be the best day of Manchester City's modern history. A win will all but guarantee their first title since 1968 and it is difficult to see them losing their way given this is a contest between the team with the best home record in the league against the side with the least away points. City's biggest opponent might be anxiety but Roberto Mancini's team are a solid bunch, which means fourth-from-bottom QPR may have to rely on Stoke avoiding defeat against Bolton to avoid dropping into the relegation places. A lot is being made about Mancini and Mark Hughes renewing hostilities but, for both managers, there are greater issues at stake. Daniel Taylor

Match pointers

• Mark Hughes has never lost at City as a visiting manager (won one, drawn four) and only Glenn Hoddle has avoided defeat there on as many occasions (won four, drawn one)

• If City win they will be the third Premier League team to take 55 from a possible 57 points at home in one season after Chelsea in 2005-06 and Manchester United last term

• QPR average 2.00 points per game in May in Premier League history and only Manchester United (2.07) have a better record

• City have won only one of their past five home league meetings with QPR

• Djibril Cissé has played seven games for QPR and has either scored (five times) or been sent off (twice) in each of them Read More
