• Portugal captain did not speak to fans after Germany game
• 'Ronaldo's been a great captain. Let's not make a big deal of it'
Nani has played down speculation that Cristiano Ronaldo and the national coach Paulo Bento clashed after the game against Germany.
There were reports that Bento wanted his captain to go out and speak to the Portuguese followers in the New Lviv Stadium after the 1-0 defeat but Nani said that Ronaldo simply went to see the physio straight after the final whistle.
The Manchester United winger said: "When the game ended we were all on our way to the dressing room. Each player decided what to do and I saw one of my team-mates going towards the fans so I decided to join him.
"I think Ronaldo went straight to our medical team because he had a little back problem. He didn't go to the fans because of that. Ronaldo has been a great captain and let's not make a big deal around it."
Bento, who confirmed on Tuesday that Helder Postiga will continue up front against Denmark, said: "I didn't read about that [the problem with Ronaldo at the end of the game]. But, if any Portuguese fan was upset with that situation, then it is my job is to apologise to them, as a leader of the group."
Ronaldo, meanwhile, cut a dejected figure at the start of training on Monday but then picked up a water bottle, kicked it in the air a few times before lobbing it into a basket a few metres away. It was enough to put a smile back on his face. Read More
