With the poor man's Umbro Cup, Euro 2012, kicking off today you'd have thought there would be no room for transfer tittle-tattle. Well, you'd be wrong because there's no shop window like a European Championships shop window. Apart from a World Cup one. And an Umbro Cup one, obviously. And the ones at Selfridges with loads of colourful tin foil and whizzy lights.
Anyway Bayern Munich's Thomas "Thomas" Müller is sick of watching mass capitulations from the bench and would consider a move. "Everybody knows that not only do I wear the Bayern Munich emblem on my shirt, but Bayern will always be my club. I am therefore not forced to think about leaving," said Muller. It does get more promising, don't worry. "But the situation at the moment does not particularly make me say that I would not listen to offers." The news isn't quite so rosy for Manchester City, according to the Star. The paper's club source reckons Roberto Mancini may leave because his wife is visually overwhelmed by the constantly shifting light from grey to quite grey to really grey to greyish. "The manager's wife does not like the north west and spends as much time as possible back in Italy," whispered the source. "She has not been able to get on board with the weather or the lifestyle, and has made this known to Mancini. His wife's dislike of Manchester is a genuine issue which isn't going to go away and could determine his long-term future."
Newcastle's reputation for signing undervalued players will suffer a blow when they snap up Salomon Kalou. Kalou will run about enthusiastically, score three goals next season and end up joining Stoke on a six-month loan.
