• Mourinho 'absolutely' determined to stay at the Bernabéu

José Mourinho will not be reunited with Chelsea in the final of the Champions League, and he will not be reunited with them next season either.
In the aftermath of Real Madrid's semi-final defeat to Bayern Munich, the Portuguese coach announced that he intends to stay at the Bernabéu, ending speculation about a return to the Premier League.
Strategic leaks from Mourinho's camp at the end of January had suggested that he wanted to coach in England next season but now, having not succeeded in his bid to become the first manager to win the European Cup with three different clubs, and having had discussions with Premier League clubs, he says he is staying at Madrid.
Mourinho has been handed greater authority than any coach in Madrid's history but he also made it clear that he will demand further changes.
Kaká and Cristiano Ronaldo had penalties saved while Sergio Ramos hit his over the bar to deny the Spanish club the chance to return to the final for the first time in a decade.
Asked if defeat made him determined to stay on at Madrid and attempt to win the competition again next year, Mourinho replied: "Absolutely."
"If I have anything in my mind, it is to try to win with these [players]," he said. "Winning the Copa del Rey last year was important and if we win the league this year that will be important too. Two [Champions League] semi-finals is also not bad but we want more.
"My feeling is that we still have the ability to grow as a team and the club has room to grow too. Clubs have to adapt to the evolution of time and to changing mentalities.
"A fantastic car in the 1980s is not fantastic in the 1990s or the 2000s. If the club thinks that I can still give something – and I know that they do – and if the players think so as well – and I think they do, I feel like the empathy is increasing – then I will continue." Read More
