• Bruce has been without job since sacking by Sunderland

Hull City are expected to unveil Steve Bruce as their new manager on Friday. The former Sunderland manager, 51, is poised to succeed Nick Barmby, who was sacked by his hometown club last month after questioning the owners' ambitions.

Bruce had been an early favourite to replace Barmby but only last week his agent Robert Segal confirmed the former Manchester United captain had not been approached by the club and had not expressed an interest in becoming the Tigers' fifth manager in the past two years.

But it now seems Bruce – out of a job since being sacked by Sunderland in November – is heading for the KC Stadium. He has previously managed Wigan (in two spells), Birmingham City, Crystal Palace, Huddersfield and Sheffield United. Read More
