• Liverpool linked with £10m offer for Swansea midfielder
• 'I want him to stay here because he is very important'
Michael Laudrup has denied that Liverpool have made an approach for the Swansea City midfielder Joe Allen, amid speculation that a £10m offer is on the cards.
Allen played a key part in Swansea's 11th-placed finish in the Premier League last season under Brendan Rodgers, who has since taken charge at Liverpool and has been linked with his former player.
Laudrup, however, dismissed the suggestion that Allen could be leaving the club and the new Swansea manager remains confident of keeping hold of his best players.
"I haven't heard anything from Liverpool," he told the Western Mail. "If it comes to more than rumours then I am sure I will talk to the chairman about it, but it is a part of football.
"You have to deal with it, talk to the player and see what he wants. We all have our own positions, the manager, the club, the player and there are a lot of things we have to look at.
"I want him to stay here because I think he is very important for the team, but we will have to deal with that when it becomes something more than rumours."
Rodgers was strongly linked with a move for Gylfi Sigurdsson before the midfielder's transfer to Tottenham Hotspur, with the Iceland international having spent last season on loan at the Liberty Stadium.
When Rodgers moved to Anfield last month the Swansea chairman, Huw Jenkins, revealed there was an agreement in place that prevented any player following him to Liverpool for 12 months. However, Laudrup admitted he was unaware of such an arrangement.
"I don't know about the agreement, but of course I will do everything to keep the best players here," he added. "When that moment arrives and we have to deal with it then we will do it. For now it is only speculation." Read More
