• Manager reportedly dismissed after less than six months in charge
• 38-year-old called for greater investment in team
Nick Barmby is believed to have been sacked by Hull City after less than six months in charge of his hometown club.
Hull's owners Assem and Ehab Allam refused to confirm last week whether or not they suspended Barmby over comments the 38-year-old made about the club's finances.
The manager stressed that team strengthening was vital in order to mount a serious promotion challenge next season after missing the Championship play‑offs.
It is understood he has now been removed from his position following a meeting with the Allams on Tuesday.
