• Holland striker will join on a three-year deal
• Turkish club announce the news on their Twitter account

Fenerbahçe have announced the signing of Dirk Kuyt from Liverpool for a fee in excess of £1m. The Holland striker has signed a three-year contract with the Turkish side, the club said on their official Twitter account.

Liverpool have confirmed the move, saying: "Liverpool Football Club can confirm that Dirk Kuyt has advised the club that he has today reached an agreement with Fenerbahçe SK over a move to Turkey, and the transfer is expected to be completed in the next few days.

"Everyone at Liverpool Football Club would like to wish Dirk all the very best for the future and thank him for his contribution to the club."

The 31-year-old, who moved to Anfield from Feyenoord in 2006, found first-team starts hard to come by under Kenny Dalglish last season. In total, he made 285 appearances for the club, scoring 71 goals

Kuyt recently revealed he rejected a return to his former club Feyenoord as, "if I returned to Holland, I would have to take an 80% cut in my Liverpool wages".

Kuyt added: "If you are 35 or 36, you know your career is almost done. But I'm only 31 and in the prime of my life. I still have two or three years left at the top. I still have the ambition and fitness to play at the highest level, a club in a major competition or a big club with European ambitions." Read More
